GritAI Newsletter: Skills everywhere, Clawd Bot 🦀 and Claude in Excel 🛠️

Hey 👋

Last week skills dominated the AI world. Vercel launched skills.sh, an open ecosystem for sharing and installing skills for AI agents. Think of it as an app store for AI skills, and adoption has been explosive. The top skill had over 20,000 installs just six hours after launch. Now you can give your agent specialized knowledge about everything from React best practices to documentation strategies with a simple command.

But the skills trend did not stop there. Cursor launched version 2.4 with subagents, skills, and image generation. Remotion released Agent Skills that teach Claude Code how to create programmatic videos. Even Google Chrome is testing Gemini-powered “Skills” for agentic browsing. We are still waiting for ChatGPT’s official support and rollout of skills 🫠

Ollama launched ollama launch, a new command that sets up Claude Code, OpenCode, and Codex with local or cloud models. You can now run Claude Code for $0 using local models! And Claude Code rumors are spinning about something called “TeammateTool”, an unreleased feature that would let you spin up a team of Claude agents that work together, divide up tasks, and review each other’s work.

Anthropic also shipped Claude in Excel in beta 🔥 According to Ethan Mollick, it outperforms Microsoft’s own Excel agent by analyzing data directly rather than relying on Excel functions alone.

But that was not all the AI news this week. Let us dive in! 🏄

Make Claude Code Smarter in 5 Minutes

CLAUDE.md is how you give Claude Code persistent memory. Set it up once and Claude understands your project architecture, coding standards, and hard-won lessons from past debugging sessions. No more repeating yourself every conversation.

This is Episode 2 in our Mastering Claude Code series.

AI Pulse 🚨

A bite-sized curation of this week's most important AI news.

🛠️ Vercel launched skills.sh, an open ecosystem for AI agent skills with CLI and leaderboard. Already used with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenCode, Clawdbot, and many more.

💻 Cursor launched version 2.4 with subagents that run in parallel, skills support, built-in image generation with Nano Banana Pro, and Cursor Blame to see which code is AI-generated.

🎬 Remotion released official Agent Skills that teach Claude Code and other agents how to create programmatic videos with captions, word highlights, and TikTok-style effects. This is a big deal. The barrier to creating coded, animated, professional-looking video dropped dramatically this month.

📊 Anthropic launched Claude in Excel in beta, which understands your entire workbook, debugs formulas, and tests scenarios without breaking dependencies. Ethan Mollick called it “really impressive”.

🔧 Ollama launched ollama launch, a new command that sets up Claude Code, OpenCode, and Codex with local or cloud models. No environment variables or config files needed. Run Claude Code for $0 with local models.

💻 GitHub launched Copilot SDK in technical preview, letting you build the same agent loop that powers GitHub Copilot CLI into any application (similar to Claude Code SDK). Supports Node.js, Python, Go, and .NET.

💻 GitHub Copilot now supports OpenCode. All developers with paid Copilot subscriptions can authenticate into OpenCode using their Copilot credentials.

🤖 Anthropic published Claude’s new constitution, a detailed document describing the values and behavior Claude should have. The document is released under Creative Commons CC0.

🔄 Claude updated Cowork with the ability to @-mention projects for context, and Claude in Chrome now shows live screenshots while it works.

✅ Claude Code is turning Todos into Tasks for better task management. Boris Cherny also announced that accepting a plan now clears context for better plan adherence.

🦞 Clawd Bot is having a big moment. This open source, self-hosted personal AI assistant connects to Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, and Signal. It can check email, manage your calendar, browse the web, run scripts, and work 24/7 with persistent memory. People are calling it “what Siri should have been”.

👥 TeammateTool rumors suggest Anthropic has advanced multi-agent functionality in Claude Code that is not yet activated for public use.

🧠 Anthropic is reportedly working on “Knowledge Bases” for Claude Cowork, a new concept of topic-specific memories that Claude will automatically manage.

🌐 Google Chrome is testing Gemini-powered “Skills” with a new security layer for agentic browsing.

🔮 Google Gemini introduced Personal Intelligence, connecting Google apps for a personalized experience that helps with daily tasks and decisions.

🎨 Black Forest Labs launched open source FLUX.2 [klein], which generates images in under one second. The 4B version is Apache 2.0 licensed for commercial use.

🎨 KREA AI introduced Realtime Edit for real-time image editing with complex instructions, similar to Nano Banana. Look at this crazy video.

📱 Notion launched version 3.2 with mobile AI, new models, and people directory.

🎬 YouTube announced that creators will soon be able to make Shorts with their own AI likeness.

💬 DeepMind CEO said he is surprised that OpenAI is rushing forward with ads in ChatGPT.

🏔️ AI at Davos Tech leaders at Davos 2026 discussed AI’s impact, opportunities, and risks for society, including concerns about superintelligence.

📈 Sequoia published “2026: This is AGI”, an analysis of how long-horizon agents represent functional AGI and how capacity doubles every 7 months.

🔬 Cursor published research on scaling long-running autonomous coding, insights that will inform their future agent capabilities.

Claude Code Community Event 🦀

Last week we hosted our second Claude Code Meetup at Mesh Oslo, and more than 200 people showed up! The room was packed with energy. We had people who have been coding for 20 years sitting next to people who have never opened a terminal.

Thanks to everyone who participated. You are part of an awesome growing community!

Next event: February 25 at Mesh Oslo.

We filled the list in 24 hours last time, so sign up quickly if you want a spot.

Register for the next meetup

New: Claude Code Academy 🎓

We are launching a series of Claude Code Bootcamps with both online options and in-person sessions at Mesh Oslo.

Two tracks to start: Claude Code for Developers and Claude Code for Everyone.

What are Skills? 🛠️

Skills are like plugins for AI agents. They package specialized knowledge, workflows, and tools that help Claude (or other AI agents) do specific tasks better.

Think of them as instruction manuals the AI reads before tackling a job. A "Brand Guidelines" skill teaches Claude your company's colors, fonts, and tone of voice. An "Expense Report" skill teaches it your company's format and categories. A "Meeting Notes" skill formats notes the way your team likes them. Skills work across regular Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork.

We expect skills to become a standard way to customize AI assistants across most tools soon.

GritAI Accelerator Program 🚀

A 12-week program for companies that want to see results with AI in weeks, not years. First cohort starts soon! Start the year with momentum.

We have a few spots available if you are interested.
