GritAI Newsletter: Opus 4.6, GPT-5.3-Codex, and the $1T SaaSpocalypse selloff πŸ“‰

Hey πŸ‘‹

Last week we got two frontier models within 20 minutes of each other. Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.6 with a 1M token context window and adaptive thinking. OpenAI released GPT-5.3-Codex and launched Frontier, their enterprise platform for AI agents.

With the release of these models, the number of economically viable tasks AI can complete has reached a new level. A CNBC reporter built a working version of the productivity tool Monday.com in an hour using Claude Code. Her summary: "AI went from talking to doing." Software stocks lost nearly $1 trillion in seven days as investors grappled with fears that these models can now build what used to require big teams.

And it is not just code. Anthropic just released Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint to make building spreadsheets, docs, and slides even easier.

Few people thought Claude Code would be one of the biggest talking points going into 2026, including Boris, the creator of Claude Code. Semi-Analysis called it "the inflection point for AI agents" and noted it now represents 4% of all GitHub public commits. They project 20%+ by end of 2026. Now OpenAI is following with the Codex app, giving more people access to agentic capabilities in an easier package like Claude Cowork. The capability gap between regular ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and these agentic tools is massive.

Those who worried about an AI bubble two months ago are now saying we might be underbuilt for what is coming. There is still a lot of hype, but AI is starting to live up to its promise. And the models we are using today are the worst models we will ever use β€” for the rest of our lives!

The vibe has changed. Let us dive in! πŸ„
