Last week we got two frontier models within 20 minutes of each other. Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.6 with a 1M token context window and adaptive thinking. OpenAI released GPT-5.3-Codex and launched Frontier, their enterprise platform for AI agents.

With the release of these models, the number of economically viable tasks AI can complete has reached a new level. A CNBC reporter built a working version of the productivity tool Monday.com in an hour using Claude Code. Her summary: "AI went from talking to doing." Software stocks lost nearly $1 trillion in seven days as investors grappled with fears that these models can now build what used to require big teams.

And it is not just code. Anthropic just released Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint to make building spreadsheets, docs, and slides even easier.

Few people thought Claude Code would be one of the biggest talking points going into 2026, including Boris, the creator of Claude Code. Semi-Analysis called it "the inflection point for AI agents" and noted it now represents 4% of all GitHub public commits. They project 20%+ by end of 2026. Now OpenAI is following with the Codex app, giving more people access to agentic capabilities in an easier package like Claude Cowork. The capability gap between regular ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and these agentic tools is massive.

Those who worried about an AI bubble two months ago are now saying we might be underbuilt for what is coming. There is still a lot of hype, but AI is starting to live up to its promise. And the models we are using today are the worst models we will ever use — for the rest of our lives!

🐙 GitHub added Claude and Codex as AI coding agents. Pick your agent directly inside GitHub, GitHub Mobile, and VS Code.

📊 Anthropic launched Claude in PowerPoint in research preview. Claude reads your layouts, fonts, and slide masters to stay on brand when generating presentations.

🍎 Apple's Xcode now supports the Claude Agent SDK, making it easier for iOS and macOS developers to integrate AI agents into their apps.

🔍 Claude Code added the /insights command. It reads your message history from the past month and gives suggestions on how to improve your workflow.

🔗 Claude Code now supports session sharing. Share your full conversation with team members or anyone with a link. Available on web, desktop, and mobile.

⚡ Claude Code added fast mode for quicker responses when you do not need deep reasoning.

🌐 Vercel released Agent Browser v0.9 with iOS support. Run browser automation for AI agents on mobile devices.

🤖 ByteDance released UI-TARS, an open source multimodal AI agent stack connecting cutting-edge models and agent infrastructure.

🔬 Anthropic published research on building a C compiler with a team of parallel Claudes, showing how agent teams can tackle complex engineering tasks.

🧪 Google launched Google CC as an experiment at Google Labs.

🔧 Claude now has interactive work tools. Draft Slack messages, visualize ideas as Figma diagrams, or build Asana timelines directly in Claude.

⚙️ Cursor improved codebase indexing using Merkle trees, cutting time-to-first-query from hours to seconds on large codebases.

🤖 Moltbook is seeing humans infiltrate the AI social network, posing as bots among the agent conversations.
